About Me

How it all started

Born and raised in The Peak District National Park I've been really lucky to spend a lot of time outside and I really enjoy beautiful countryside that I live. My first woodwork was making marshmallow sticks for campfires with my friends, but that soon led to trying to carve spoons. From carving spoons, I soon wanted to make and carve all types of things, honey dippers, butterflies, long Jar Spoons, butter spreaders to name a few.

But it was Christmas 2023 that really changed things, when my Grandfather decided that we should jointly get a wood turning lathe, so we could learn how to turn bowls.  However since the lathe arrived my Grandfather has hardly had a chance to use it, since I have found what I really love.

What I'm up to.

  • Summer 2026 : This Summer I've been competing in the "Young Market Trader of the Year", its' been an exciting event and I've enjoyed learning some much about how to set up my market stall from the judges of the competition and also the other stall holders in the competition. I've done three markets so far this summer and I've been lucky enough to do quite well, so far:

    • Winner : Derby round of "Young Market trader of the Young"

    • High Commended : North West Regional Final of "Young Market trader of the Young"

  • Spring 2026 : I've been really happy to find a new source of bowl blanks. I wanted to use more locally sourced wood and I've started to use blanks from "Native Woodturning Blanks", https://www.nativewoodturningblanks.co.uk/
